A twist on a traditional South African classic . I made a milk tart filling using a tin of condensed milk and then instead of pouring it into a crust I churned it in an ice cream machine . It’s also delicious served with a generous splash of Amarula Cream liqueur
385g tin condensed milk
5ml vanilla essence
Heat the condensed milk and milk in a pot. Beat together the cornflour, water, vanilla, eggs and salt. Stir this mixture into the condensed milk mixture until smooth. Cook stirring until starting to thicken. Pour the mixture into a shallow tray and sprinkle with cinnamon. Allow this mixture to cool until well chilled. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream machine and churn until thick. Spoon into a storage container with a lid and store in the freezer.
